Igshaan Amlay

Igshaan Amlay was the youngest of the Wynberg Seven, a group of seven school students arrested during student protests in Wynberg in 1985. All seven were convicted of public violence and sent to the infamous Pollsmoor Prision, where they were housed amongst some of South Africa’s most violent criminals. The highly publicised trial drew attention to the thousands of students and youth sentenced to prison terms for public violence, effectively criminalising protest activity in Apartheid South Africa.
